Seniors’ Health and Wellbeing Fund
The Seniors’ Health and Wellbeing Fund, funded by United Way Niagara, helps low-income older adults (65+) experiencing determinants of health, the opportunity to apply for a grant that will enhance their quality of life with the implementation and purchase of a personal assistive device. This grant is for older adults (65+) living within the Niagara Region only. The successful recipient of the grant can receive upwards of $500, to be applied towards a personal assistive device invoice, provided by your healthcare provider. The grant of upwards of $500 is applicable per successful applicant per calendar year. The successful applicant of the grant, must demonstrate the following:
- Applicant must prove residency within the Niagara Region
- Applicant must prove they have sought funding via other social services channels
- Applicant’s proven need for the grant due to low-income or insufficient funds must be communicated by a Registered Social Services Worker or Social Services expert
- Applicant must provide a quote from a qualified healthcare provider; please note the funds will be paid directly to the healthcare provider
- Applications must be received 24hours prior to scheduled committee meeting; committee meetings occur monthly on the first and third Wednesday
